The Codiac League for Alzheimer’s
The three Codiac-area clubs (Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe), in partnership with Tennis Canada, is excited to offer our new 2026 League for Alzheimer's, with all proceeds donated to the New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society.
The League aims to bring our Codiac tennis community together in friendly competition and to support a worthy cause.
We will use Tennis Canada Flex Ladders platform, which will manage registrations, groupings, scores and standings.
Tennis Canada is also promoting the use of the World Tennis Number (WTN) program, which uses match results to assign a genderless and ageless rating to every participating player. The WTN is a global rating scale that allows tennis players to find the right playing partner or program. Matches played in the Alzheimer's League will automatically be fed to the WTN system and every player will be able to see their WTN evolve over time. For more information on the WTN, go to http://worldtennisnumber.com/
Who can play?
The league is open to all Tennis Moncton, Tennis Dieppe and Riverview Tennis Club members or registered program participants of all levels and who are 12 years or older.
League organizers will verify the eligibility of all players.
Players must also register with Tennis Canada to participate in the league. Players that do not already have Tennis Canada accounts can register for FREE by selecting the "Recreational" member type and completing the registration process.
How does it work?
This Box league will consist of sessions or rounds of 3-5 weeks each during the season.
The league will be organized into two singles divisions and one doubles division (male and female players combined), based on self-rated skill level as described in the Tennis Canada "Play Tennis" Self Rating Guide. World Tennis Number (WTN) may be used later to establish league divisions.
- BEGINNER (2.5 and below) - I have some tennis experience, can get the ball in play and can rally consistenly 10 balls in a row.
- INTERMEDIATE (3.0 and higher) - I can rally consistently 10 balls in a row on forehands and backhands, able to move the opponent around the court or hit harder when receiving easier balls.
- DOUBLES (Beginner and Intermediate levels).
Players will register separately for each session, before the session registration deadline, in the self-rated division of their choice. League organizers will make final decisions on placing players into Divisions and Groups. Players are welcome to register for as many or as few sessions as they wish and may join the league at the start of any session.
The entry fee is $20 per session. All the league proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick at the end of the season. League entry fees (your donations) are eligible for a tax receipt. For more information on Alzheimer's consult the "ABOUT ALZHEIMER'S" tab.
Players will be organized into groups with 3-5 other players, based on their self-rated skill level. Players will arrange their own matches to play everyone in their group for the session, approximately one match per week.
Matches can be played at any club where one of the players is affiliated and can book a court, according to that club's booking rules. Note: TM non-member program participants must contact the club well in advance, by phone, email or in person, to book a court for a league match for FREE, but outside peak times (Mon-Thu 4pm - 8pm).
Players will decide where to play. If there is a disagreement, the league admin will decide.
No court fees to be charged for league play by approved participants.
Each match will consist of one 8-game PROSET - The first player to win 8 games, wins the match. If the score reaches 7 games all, they play a 7-point tie-break.
